Family Community Night

On 5th September 2019, over 250 parents and children attended Odense's first-ever Family Community Night, which was co-hosted by International Community Odense and Odense International School

Internationals and locals had the chance to interact and learn more about activities for children in Odense.

The event was open to the public. Over 25 youth clubs met with the families to present their offers for children. A wide range of activities were represented in the categories of sports, music & dance, coding & IT, and community organisations. A list of the participating clubs and organisations, along with links to their websites and Facebook pages, can be downloaded here

While parents strolled through the exhibition, children were welcome to paint stones with International Family, a non-profit organisation run by volunteer international mothers in Odense. The artistic group Byrumspolifylla was also on hand with Hama® beads, which gave children another opportunity to unleash their creative minds.

Teenage dancers from City Ballet Dance Academy performed throughout the night. Children could also try out volleyball with players from Fortuna Odense Volley, as well as take a swing with a hockey stick with players from the Odense Bulldogs.

We were pleased to be co-hosts with International Community Odense and hope to turn this into an annual event. If you have suggestions for future Family Community Nights, we welcome your thoughts. Please email your suggestions to OIS Communications Officer Katie Christiansen at
